Lavender and Gray Mountain Wedding

Lavender and Gray Mountain Lodge Weekend Wedding

The wedding of Megan and Marisa was a weekend-long celebration with family and friends in Virginia. The celebration was inspired by Megan’s uncle wedding, also a weekend party. “It allowed us to spend a lot of time with everyone and made it less of a blur because the wedding was just the highlight and continuation of fun for the whole weekend,” reminisces Megan about her wedding day.

Marisa and Megan chose a best-of-both-worlds venue with the Lydia Mountain Lodge and Log Cabins which allowed guests to spend time indoors on the dance floor or outdoors around the fire pits. “It also provided us, two introverts, with the opportunity to decompress from all the attention for short periods of time if we felt like we needed it,” shared Megan.

The self-proclaimed introverts have embraced that part of their personality their entire relationship. Marisa and Megan met online and had an intimate proposal at home during a game of Scrabble and a home-cooked dinner. Megan gave Marisa a puzzle box that contained a note from the point-of-view of Megan’s cat, explaining that she believed Marisa was finally well-trained enough and would she be her mommy? Marisa then reached into the bag of Scrabble tiles and pulled out her ring!

Reverend Kate created a beautiful ceremony that incorporated the couple’s spirituality and kept them present in the moment together. Marisa wore a custom suit from Bindle & Keep, made to fit her style and body type. She completed the look with vegan, gender-neutral shoes that have since been worn for work numerous time. Megan knew she wanted a dress that was neither “poofy” nor “lace-y.”After joking about buying a dress she tried on with a leaf-life pattern that would incorporate the nature of their wedding’s mountainous atmosphere, Megan did come to fall in love with the leaf-like dress designed by Sareh Nouri that met all her specifications.

Marisa put her skills as a lighting designer for an event production company to work while decorating the reception. With the help of the DJ, they coordinated the idea of lavender lighting which set the color tone for the reception. Since lavender wasn’t in season for the April wedding, the lighting and faux lavender centerpieces provided the perfect décor alternative. At the end of the night, after the DJ had ended and the caterers had gone home, the couple enjoyed the rest of their night sitting around a fire pit with their friends.
