It all began on a crisp winter day on January 11th, 2021 when Gaba and Kacie matched on the dating app Bumble. Little did they know that this digital spark would soon turn into an unbreakable bond.
“I knew the moment she walked in my front door. I was pretty sure I had already fallen in love over text, but there was no question once we met in real life,” says Gaba. Meanwhile, Kacie also felt the instant connection. “I knew Gaba was special the second we started talking on Bumble. I literally felt like I missed them before we ever even met in person,” she says.
Gaba wanted to make a proposal that was truly memorable. With a stroke of genius, they reached out to Bumble — the dating app that brought them together two and a half years prior — for assistance. And the team jumped at the opportunity to play another role in this couple's love story. “Kacie and I have always enjoyed the fact that we are a Bumble success story,” says Gaba. “Bumble provided the most beautiful setting, complete with balloons, Kacie’s favorite flowers, and the string quartet of my dreams.”
When the time came, Gaba got down on bended knee and presented Kacie with a gorgeous engagement ring, a family heirloom. “When I told my mom I wanted to propose, she gave me her mother’s engagement ring. While it was absolutely gorgeous, I wanted to redesign it in a style that I felt would fit my fiancée. I took it to a jeweler nearby my mom’s house in Santa Barbara, and they turned it into the most stunning ring I’ve ever seen. The fact that Kacie now wears my grandmother’s diamonds means so much to me.”
“I was caught off guard because I thought we were on our way to spend a night having wine, cheese, and jazz with Gaba’s sister. But then Gaba took a wrong turn, and another one, and when we pulled off of onto a dirt road, I knew immediately what was happening. But walking up to the lookout, seeing and hearing a gorgeous string quartet playing all of mine and Gaba’s songs, and a group of people — who I didn’t know at the time were the Bumble team — cheering us on, nothing could have been better. I was over the moon and blacked out from happiness. I’m forever grateful Bumble helped us get it all on video, it’s something we can treasure forever and ever.”
“Afterwards, they helped set up a gorgeous party with all our friends and family,” exclaims Gaba. “We toasted all night with our Bumble champagne glasses, and it truly couldn’t have gone better.”
