Keira and Andrey wanted a wedding that expressed their roots — hers U.S. Southern, his Mexican — while sharing their journey to this exciting stage in life.
Everyone has a love language that is unique to them. It just so happens that Kiera and Andrey came from different parts of the world consisting of different spoken languages, too! They exchanged wedding vows beneath the gorgeous fall foliage of Kiera’s hometown in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Their shared love of attending annual festivals and nostalgic moments made it an easy decision to choose the Historic Round Barn for their special day.
“I grew up going to the barn to shop for apples, pumpkins, and other fall items/goodies, says Kiera. “I fell in love with the place and the surrounding orchards and wanted to get married there since Iwas about 14. It held a sentimental place in my heart, and when Andrey and I started dating, it became tradition for us to go there each fall after attending the Annual Apple Harvest Festival. Luckily, Andrey also fell in love with the charm of the place and the beauty of the orchards and nature surrounding the barn and agreed it would be a beautiful place to get married.”
“I had to learn a new language just to talk to you,” was a phrase the groom wrote in his vow book. With the blending of cultures of significance to them, it was important that their ceremony reflected that by being performed bilingually.
Additionally, they were able to fuse elements of Andrey’s Mexican heritage into the woodland aesthetic of the decor.
“We had lots of gorgeous greenery and fall flowers in the barn in combination with white papel picado (cut decorative paper), which we thought looked so lovely,” shares the couple. “We also loved having a display of traditional Mexican candies and pan dulce (sweet bread) that surrounded the cake, which was a fun blend of both cultures. We made our own signature cocktail — a take on the Mexican Paloma — which was a hit with our guests.”
A warm cinnamon, sage, and navy blue color palette tied in the seasonal vibes beautifully; showcased through the wedding party’s attire, the gorgeous floral arrangements, and their semi-naked caramel drip wedding cake.
Vintage-boho accents rounded out the look of the day perfectly and proved to be the most incredible setting for the special day that ended with a grand sparkler exit.
