Instead of ducking under shelter, Renee and Sam took advantage of the romance when it poured during their engagement session, snuggling under umbrellas and blankets as they strolled from a coffee shop into the woods near their home. “We spend a lot of time walking our dogs in the trails near our home so we thought this would be a great place to continue the memories,” exclaims Renee. Even with Mother Nature working against her, Caroline Ross Photography did a beautiful job documenting Renee and Sam's love story and the brightly hued colors of their forest stroll.

The Love Story

Sam and Renee met in the 2nd grade and started a friendship that lasted well into high school. After transferring and losing touch during their teenage years, they reconnected online. One night, when I was out with friends, I suddenly realized that I had fallen in love with Sam,” says Renee. “It was late so I decided to send him a text because I didnt want to wake him up. He was in a different time zone, halfway across the country! The next day I received flowers with a little note that said ‘I love you too.'”

When asked when he knew Renee was the one, Sam responded, “The 2nd grade.”

The Proposal

After a romantic date night, Renee came home to a trail of lanterns that led to a fire and Champagne. “And then I knew what was about to happen,” exclaims the bride. “I was so happy! My heart was beating a million miles a minute and I had so many butterflies in my stomach! I couldn’t hold back the tears.”

The Ring

The couple came across a unique jewelry store during their travels in Barcelona that carried molded rings with nature-inspired designs. “Sam remembered that this jewelry store was right beside one of the famous Godi structures so he looked up the name and address of the store on Google Earth. After that he was in touch through email with them until he managed to find the ring!”
