Set against the quiet grandeur of the Boston Public Library, Pua and Janery “Chupi”’s wedding was a masterclass in intentional, art-forward celebration. With just over 100 guests in attendance, the couple chose a venue that felt both historic and expressive.
“We knew we wanted elegance and quiet grandeur, a space that could speak for itself,” they shared. The library’s iconic architecture, paired with a refined palette of taupe, black and white, created a setting that felt timeless yet striking, allowing their love story and personal style to take center stage.
The ceremony was defined by stillness, presence, and deeply personal moments. “Time stood still, and it was just us,” Pua reflected of their first look, while Chupi described the same feeling during their vows. Standing face to face, exchanging words written from the heart, the moment felt raw and grounding, an intentional pause amid the grandeur of the day. Fashion and artistry shaped the overall vision, with inspiration drawn from the Met Gala, Oscar de la Renta, and chiaroscuro-inspired lighting to create contrast, mood, and depth without distraction.
Style played a powerful storytelling role throughout the wedding. Chupi wore a sleek black Alexander McQueen suit with bold shoulder embellishments, Christian Louboutin shoes, and a brooch in place of a bow tie, an avant-garde look that felt both regal and unmistakably her own. Pua stunned in a sculptural Anne Barge gown, featuring a strapless bodice and voluminous textured skirt.
“The moment I tried it on, standing in front of my mom and sister, the three of us were speechless,” she shared.
Soft white and pale green florals – including cascading orchids, calla lilies, delphiniums, and hydrangeas – were paired with crystal candlesticks and layered textures for an elevated yet understated aesthetic. The day was captured beautifully by Nicole Chan Photo & Video, whose imagery preserved the intimacy, artistry, and emotion woven throughout every moment.
One of the most moving moments of the reception came when Pua and her family performed traditional Samoan dances, including the taualuga, a ceremonial dance honoring lineage and legacy.
“It wasn’t just a performance, it was a tribute to where I come from,” Pua shared, noting how meaningful it was that Chupi had fully embraced her culture and family.
From handcrafted Samoan wedding favors to custom stone-and-acrylic signage welcoming guests to “the next chapter of our love story,” every detail reflected intention and authenticity.
Their advice to couples planning their own day? “Trust your vision … don’t be afraid to break the rules or reimagine traditions.” And in doing so, they created a wedding that felt not only beautiful but profoundly, unmistakably theirs.
