Retro Glam: The Return of Old Hollywood Romance
The first thing that pops out of the wedding portraits is the retro glam design style. From Selena and Benny’s outfits to their hairdos and poses, the photos shout old-school Hollywood romance.
“Selena and Benny’s trendy Hollywood glam look will catch on because of its very classy and buttoned-up style that can be subtly achieved by paying attention to the details,” declares McKenzi Taylor, founder of Cactus Collective Weddings. “All the little things, such as her eyebrows, her hairstyle, her diamond earrings, the neckline on her dress, the tight little flower bouquet, and even Benny’s bow tie, are all working together to elevate the trendy look.”
Furthermore, experts predict that couples will adopt this trend and personalize it with a few contemporary twists. “Not only is retro timelessness an easy trend to pull inspiration from, but you can easily twist it into future and modern times and make it your own,” adds Jen Sulak, lead photographer at Weirdo Weddings Photography. “From glam to ‘wham!’ you can take a decade and make it everything that fits you as a couple and shine just like the love and smiles in all these photos!”

The Beauty of Contrast: Formal Meets Fun
While the photos showcase Gomez and Blanco embodying vintage glamour, they’re also shown letting their hair down and enjoying the moment.
“Gomez hit the formal-informal contrast perfectly. The glamorous gown spread out across the grass, the elegant long nails and her bare feet, the Old-Hollywood marcel waves, strong brow, and full makeup, but presented on polaroids,” says Catherine Malone, design director at Tourterelle Floral Design. “Hopefully, this is a harbinger of couples taking themselves a little less seriously while at the same time not compromising their vision and design. I loved the formal references that weren’t compromised, but at the same time, didn’t inhibit their obvious enjoyment and delight in the day!”
According to the experts, this combination of old Hollywood glamour with genuine emotions is going to define wedding portraits. “This blend of old-world charm with contemporary intimacy is set to inspire weddings. Where luxury feels lived-in, not loud,” adds Manvi Gandotra, founder of 1Plus1 Studio. “Their wedding visuals prove that the future of wedding photography lies in emotion-driven, vintage-inspired storytelling where every frame feels timeless yet deeply personal.”
The Wedding Ceremony As The Centerpiece
Additionally, like Selena and Benny, experts expect couples to focus more on their wedding ceremonies and customizing the rituals and details.
“Couples will increasingly view the ceremony as the true centerpiece of their wedding, personalizing it with storytelling, rituals, and details that reflect their journey together,” says Carla Doshi, professional wedding officiant at Forever Incredible Ceremonies. “Selena Gomez’s celebration reinforces that a ceremony isn’t just a formality. It is the emotional heart of the day. We’ll see more couples investing in officiants who can craft meaningful, bespoke moments that honor their unique love story.”

The Nostalgia Boom: Film and 90s-Inspired Photography
Their portraits featured a soft, grainy, and unpolished feel that aligns with a broader trend toward '90s nostalgia and analog photography.
“I think Selena Gomez’s wedding will reinforce the current trend towards analog we're seeing. Gen-Z is drawn to '90s nostalgia (flip phones, CD players, Super 8 videography), and Selena’s photos had that nostalgic comfort,” states Haley Day, owner at Haley Day Photography. “Selena and Benny’s wedding portraits felt like Polaroids taken by friends in the backyard, focused on their love and joy instead of being perfectly polished or performative.”
Additionally, experts predict that Selena and Benny’s preference for an emotionally charged, vintage aesthetic will be one of the most significant shifts in wedding photography. “I was delighted to see the classic, old Hollywood feel of Petra Collins’s stunning images for Selena Gomez. While so many photographers are leaning into bare-bulb flash and ultra-sharp mirrorless images, Collins instead told Selena and Benny’s love story using grainy, soft-focused shots that leave so much room for emotion,” adds Rebecca Gatto, founder and principal photographer at Matriarch Studios. “I expect high-end photographers will offer more film and film-digital hybrid packages. We’ll also see a resurgence in pastel, filmic edits at every price point.”

Glorious Blooms: Symbolic and Delicate White Bouquets
Selena’s pick of a delicate, white lily of the valley bouquet is expected to inspire couples to embrace symbolism and effortless elegance in their floral choices.
“Selena’s ethereal bouquet will serve as inspiration for couples getting married in 2026. Not only will we see replicas of her lily of the valley bouquet, but I predict more couples will lean into the symbolism behind the flowers they choose,” mentions Helayne Nicholson, founder and lead planner at The Road To Marriage LLC. “This will give couples another avenue to communicate their values and add to the richness of their love story.”
However, couples, be warned, these beautiful florals can be expensive, particularly when they’re out of season. “Selena’s lily of the valley bouquet was the epitome of effortless elegance. But few know that the lily of the valley has a very short spring season. To import it out of season (as was the case for Selena’s September bouquet) is extraordinarily expensive,” mentions Stephanie Stopka, founder and creative director at Flowers by Stem. “Plan to budget $1200+ for an out-of-season lily of the valley bouquet. Alternatively, a couple can choose other delicate white blooms to create a similar monobotanical feel. White astilbe, delphinium, sweetpeas, and stock are all lovely options!”
The Subtle Signature: Attire Personalization
Lastly, experts predict the incorporation of sweet, subtle personal touches into the couple’s wedding outfits.
“One trend we are going to see more of is sweet personal touches woven into attire in subtle ways. Selena had a heart and the initials S+B hidden in the lace of one of her gowns,” concludes Ashley Allan, owner and lead planner at Your Jubilee Weddings. “We expect that more soonlyweds will be looking for embroidered initials, veil personalizations, and meaningful motifs in lace, while the men will be incorporating custom liners, embroidered pocket squares and socks, and even wedding dates sewn into the collar of their suit jacket.”
