Start spreading the news…because Peter and Braulio’s New York City wedding is taking the wedding world by storm! “We have always been inspired by old New York. The 1920s, the Gilded Age, etc. So we took ideas, decor, and themes from that time while thinking about what we wanted, where we wanted it to happen, and what it would look like,” said the couple.
With the assistance of Stillwell Events, their design was executed to the nines in the opulent setting of The Metropolitan Club; each detail enhancing the historic, yet elegant ambiance of the space including mirrored tables, an abundance of candlelight, and a plethora of blooms consisting of delphinium, hydrangeas with ivory and cream roses.
Being that Braulio is Catholic and Peter is Greek Orthodox, the two could not have a religious gathering. However Peter’s cousin became an ordained minister for the pair, making it that much more special; with their other family members taking part in their ceremony in some form as well. “Being that we are a same-sex couple, we didn’t feel the traditional role of one spouse walking and one spouse waiting was appropriate for us. We chose to both have a procession on either side with our respective wedding party members and both our mothers escorting us.”
Post nuptials, the pair walked into their reception, continuing the celebration in their custom designed Loro Piana tuxedos. They shared a first dance with one another and their mothers before delighting guests with a mouthwatering menu and the cutting of their monogrammed Art Deco, Ron Ben-Israel cake; of which contained the same monogram that was included on their cocktail shaker favors.
As for how this pair would sum up their day, “From beginning to end, everything was beautiful, magical, and smooth,” also leaving couples planning with some advice. “Get a wedding planner!!!”
