JoJo and Yoni's jam-packed Washington D.C. wedding weekend included pre-wedding events such as a communal drum circle and challah bake, Shabbat dinner, boat party, welcome party, and a pre-ceremony Tisch followed by the formal ceremony and reception.
Communal Drum Circle and Challah Bake
The wedding weekend began with a communal drum circle, a unique and engaging way to bring together friends and family. The rhythmic beats of the drums created an atmosphere of unity and excitement, resonating with everyone present. It was a perfect icebreaker, allowing guests to connect and share in the anticipation of the upcoming celebrations.
Following the drum circle, the challah bake brought a sense of warmth and tradition to the weekend. JoJo and Yoni, alongside their loved ones, gathered to knead and braid the dough, infusing it with love and blessings, and creating delicious bread to be enjoyed throughout the weekend together.

Shabbat Dinner
The Shabbat dinner was a significant and heartfelt part of the weekend. Set in a beautifully decorated venue, the tables were adorned with elegant white tablecloths, candlesticks, and lush floral arrangements. The soft glow of the candles added a serene and sacred ambiance. Family and friends came together to share a meal, offer blessings, and celebrate the couple’s upcoming union. The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and the comforting sounds of traditional songs, making it a memorable and emotional gathering. This special sharing of a meal allowed the couple's community to come together to honor the significance of the Sabbath and to bless JoJo and Yoni's upcoming union.

The Boat Party
The boat party was a delightful contrast to the serene Shabbat dinner, bringing a sense of adventure and fun to the weekend. Guests enjoyed breathtaking views of the water, with the sun setting in the background, casting a golden glow over the festivities. The atmosphere was vibrant, with music, dancing, and laughter echoing across the deck.

The Welcome Party
The rooftop welcome party was a colorful and lively affair, held in a venue that was an explosion of vibrant hues, lush florals and artistic decor. The walls were adorned with murals, and the room was filled with an array of flowers and eclectic furnishings.

Pre-Ceremony Tisch and Badeken
On the day of the wedding, Yoni gathered with loved ones for the Tisch, a Jewish tradition that takes place before the wedding ceremony, The atmosphere was charged with camaraderie and love, as everyone came together to support Yoni in the final moments before he became a married man. Afterwards, he is carried into the synagogue for the Badeken ceremony, where they had their first look and signed the ketubah in front of only a handful of loved ones.

The Ceremony
Held at the historic Sixth and I venue in downtown D.C., the chuppah was beautifully adorned with bunches of baby's breath, added exquisite detail to the ceremony space. And while JoJo and Yoni’s parents stood beside them donning bolder attire, bridesmaids graced the occasion wearing all-white floor length gowns.
The groom's modern look, complete with loafers, perfectly complemented the bride's radiant presence. Her veil, embroidered with the heartfelt saying “Truly, Madly, Deeply,” added a sentimental touch, and paired beautifully with her bouquet of delicate white blooms.

The Reception
While the ceremony exuded elegance and tradition, the reception at the Culture House infused the evening with creativity and flair. Large pink floral arrangements adorned the light pink bar, while metallic linens and funky centerpieces adorned the table tops. Petals also popped through a uniquely shaped wedding cake, with a groom’s cake featuring a favorite baseball team sitting nearby and a vintage letter sign adding a nostalgic charm.
As the evening progressed, both the bride and groom embraced a more casual attire, donning a white mini dress and an all-black ensemble respectively, paired with white sneakers for comfort. It was just the look needed for a night of continued dancing to the live band.
Filled with passion, color, traditions and endless love, you’re going to want to take a gander through gorgeous details!
