Lindsey and Deven met through their local rugby team. Lindsey had just moved to San Diego and joined team which Deven was one of the captains. “An abuse of power, really,” laughs Lindsey. They lived only blocks apart and shared many rides to team events, during which their friendship grew. “I realized how much happier I was when she was around, and eventually our friendship blossomed into something more,” says Deven.
Almost two years into dating, they bought a house together. “I knew in my heart a long time before that, but there was one particular night we were working on the house –literally waiting for cement dry so we could start laying the floor the next morning — and we fell asleep on the ground with only each other's bodies for pillows. It occurred to me that with anyone else that would've been a nightmare, but with Lindsey it was just an adventure. That is one moment I can think of where I actually thought, ‘she's the one!' I simply couldn't imagine being with anyone else.”
A few months later, Lindsey proposed while they were on a hike. “In the moments afterwards, our dogs Whit and Dublin ran over to meet us. Lindsey had, of course, made bandanas for them: ‘Marry Mom?' and ‘She said yes!' I guess she was banking on a ‘yes.'”
For their engagement photos, Deven and Lindsey incorporated their two favorite things into their shoot with Let's Frolic Together: breweries and nature. Because of its dog-friendly atmosphere and garage-style doors, they headed to Fall Brewing to sip pints while Whit and Dublin made the occasional adorable photobomb. Afterwards, they walked along the winding trails of Balboa Park, just as the sun was setting, creating some truly magical shots.
