Tom and Mark’s San Francisco Bay Yacht Wedding

For their wedding inspiration, Tom and Mark retraced their steps from the night they got engaged, opting to exchange vows while sailing around San Francisco Bay. “We wanted something different, not a lot of people can say they got married on a yacht on San Francisco Bay,” explains Mark of their venue choice. “It took Tom and I another four years after our proposal to get married because we wanted to get married in our home state of California,” Mark continues. “And we finally did it after the overturn of Prop 8.”

The Love Story

Tom and Mark met on MySpace when it was still popular (they swear!). On their four-year anniversary, they celebrated with a sailboat tour in San Francisco Bay. “The weather that day was horrible — it was wet and cold. So I ditched the plan on proposing while sailing, it was just not comfortable,” says Mark. “We went home at the end of the day, I handed him a box of See's candies — his favorite chocolates — and under a pink truffle chocolate was the question ‘Will you marry me?' and he said ‘Yes!'

The Wedding Details

Their yacht celebration had no shortage of style, due to Mark's (who is a self-proclaimed perfectionist) attention to detail. Sea life table numbers, message-in-a-bottle guest book, a raw bar and treasure chest card box were just a few of the nautical nods. They even had beautifully displayed ginger candies at the ready for any seasick guests.
