On a gorgeous day in October, when the fall foliage of Kenyon College’s campus in Ohio was at its peak, nothing shined as bright as Dana and Alisha’s love. Amy Ann Photography captured the joyous couple on the grounds where Dana and Alisha first met more than 10 years ago. “It was great to be back in the place where it all started for us,” the couple says.

THE LOVE STORY

Dana and Alisha only spent one year in school together at Kenyon College, but it was clear from early on that they had something special. “I knew from the beginning of our relationship that we had a very special connection,” Alisha says. “I can’t pinpoint one exact moment that I knew Dana was the one, but I’ve known for years that there was no one else I’d rather spend my life with.”

Years down the road, Alisha was accepted into medical school at Ohio State University. The two moved from Cleveland to Columbus, which Dana was initially nervous about. “The thought of moving to Columbus and leaving my family was really scary for me,” she says. “But once we moved, I realized how much comfort I get from being around Alisha and the excitement I have at the thought of building a life together — she’s definitely the one for me.”

After spending 10 years together, it was the Supreme Court ruling that encouraged them to take the next step in their relationship. “That night, we went to one of our favorite wine bars to celebrate the news, and soon after, started looking for engagement rings,” Dana says. When Dana asked Alisha to spend the rest of her life with her, Alisha’s first thought was, “It’s about time.”

THE RINGS

For Dana, Alisha picked out a platinum diamond eternity band that Dana says has “LOTS of sparkle … just like me!”

For Alisha, Dana designed a dainty white gold, halo cushion cut ring. “It’s simple and elegant,” Alisha says. “And I love it.”
