Sustainable Los Angeles Wedding With Boho/Modern Details

After a proposal in Rocky Mountain National Park and an engagement session in Glacier National Park, it only made sense that Kurt and Jaimie held a nature-inspired wedding.

They focused their day around two key elements, the first being the venue. While they chose the Millwick in downtown Los Angeles, they certainly brought the outdoors in; leaving guests to enjoy a celebration infused with tons of pretty details.

“We wanted to keep the colors as natural as possible and landed on navy and copper/amber to represent the ocean and sunrise/sunset. I’ve always been drawn to a boho/modern aesthetic so Opus Events really made that happen for us,” mentions the pair.

A DIY seating chart along with other crafty signs showed guests into the area with suspended floral arrangements, pampas grass, and a backdrop with a photo from their engagement session bringing the scenery to the otherwise contemporary atmosphere.

With as much love as these two share for the environment, sustainability was the second key element and of utmost importance for their big day.

“Weddings are great but there is so much waste involved with food, napkins, cups, favors, etc., so it was so important that we tried to reduce as much waste as possible. We worked with Compostable to help dispose of any leftover food in a sustainable way, we used glass cups for our guests to avoid plastic, and we used plantable wedding invites to reduce waste.” Additionally bridesmaids were also able to get a gown of their choosing so they would be able to rewear them.

While every detail was so well curated, the favorite part of the day for the couple would be spending it with those that matter most; leaving their advice for future wedding planning couples. “Honestly, most people don't remember what your napkins looked like or what appetizers came out during cocktail hour — everyone wants to see the couple happy and excited for their big day.”
