A festive Art Deco–inspired winter wedding at Boston’s Metropolitan Waterworks Museum blends vintage fashion, meaningful heirloom details, and a heartfelt LGBTQ+ love story.
From the moment Sydney and Jane locked eyes, Sydney says she just knew. “I swear my gut told me I was going to marry Jane the moment we made eye contact,” she shares — a feeling that only grew stronger through bonding over country music, cooking (and eating), the outdoors, and navigated what they call a “stressful dryer-through-a-car-window incident” by their fourth date. That early chaos somehow clarified everything.
Their love story continued to unfold through family trips, quiet wedding planning, and building a home together — including adopting their beloved dogs, Carter and Conrad. Then, on New Year’s Day, after brunch at one of their favorite spots, Narragansett Brewery, Jane proposed as they walked Carter through India Point Park. It was simple, heartfelt, and perfectly them.
The couple said “I do” in front of 110 guests at Boston’s Metropolitan Waterworks Museum, embracing an Art Deco-meets-holiday aesthetic in a space defined by brick walls, iron staircases, and industrial history, featuring preserved mechanical engineering from one of the country’s first water systems Their palette of black, green, and gold, shimmered throughout minimalist holiday trees, greenery-forward florals, and deep red blooms.
Sydney wore a vintage-inspired Sachin & Babi gown with a plunging neckline, center slit, and flared sleeves, finished with a sparkling headband for Old Hollywood flair. Jane donned a custom white-and-black tuxedo from Suitmen in Providence, saying she felt like she was having her true “Pride and Prejudice Mr. Darcy moment.”
Personal touches made the day deeply meaningful: Sydney’s mom baked the cake and upcycled her grandparents’ original cake topper, a friend arranged Sydney’s bouquet inside a 1920s nosegay holder, guests received red scarves to stay warm, and custom ornaments sent everyone home with a piece of the celebration.
Their favorite memories? The dancing, the photos, and simply being surrounded by the people they love. “Being able to spend time with our friends and family was so special,” they say … a perfect reflection of a day that felt both glamorous and effortlessly heartfelt.
