Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce has the world in a frenzy, but we needed a post dedicated to the ring. From the antique-inspired cut to the hidden design details, Swift’s sparkler is more than just a dazzling piece of jewelry—it’s a statement steeped in history, romance, and personal meaning. The vintage-inspired sparkler, chosen by Travis Kelce and crafted with a modern-meets-antique aesthetic, is brimming with thoughtful details that feel perfectly Swiftian: romantic, symbolic, and just a touch dramatic. From the unique cut and setting to the story behind its designer, here’s a closer look at everything we know about Taylor Swift’s engagement ring.
It's an antique diamond.
From what we’ve seen, the ring appears to feature an antique elongated cushion-cut diamond, speculated to be an old mine diamond. “[Antique diamonds] are finite, rare gemstones that carry history and character within each facet,” says Jennifer Gandia, co-owner of Greenwich St. Jewelers in New York City. “That rarity makes them especially fitting for Taylor, who has built her career on artistry and storytelling.”
It's meticulously detailed.
The style itself balances bold proportions with subtle, handcrafted details such as engraving and milgrain, which, according to Gandia, is very much in line with what is trending right now. “Jewelry that isn’t just fashionable, but meaningful and highly personal,” she adds.
Travis worked with an independent jewelry designer.
Travis could have worked with any high-end luxury designer in the world, but he chose to work with an independent designer, and I absolutely love that. Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, a New York City–based designer known for her vintage-inspired, heirloom-quality pieces was tapped to create the iconic ring. “Independent jewelers often bring a distinctive voice to their work, and this ring feels infused with that artistry. The craftsmanship, the elongated silhouette, and those thoughtful, intimate details make it a piece that can’t simply be replicated,” says Gandia. “As an artist herself, Taylor would naturally gravitate toward something that carries depth, story, and nuance — and this ring reflects that beautifully.”
The jewelry designer was once told she'd never make it.
The 30-year-old designer has shared that she was once told that she'd never be a jewelry designer, a sentiment that Taylor very much felt during her earlier years. “I believe that if someone says you can't do something, you should prove them 110 percent wrong,” Lubeck states in an Instagram post. And in true Taylor fashion, success becomes the best revenge.
It's estimated to be between 7-10 carats.
While there's no way to know for sure, appraisers have estimated the diamond to be between 7-10 carats, with some even saying it could be as big as 13 carats (which could be a nod to her lucky number).
