Thirteen years after their very first date, David and Brian got to tie the knot and celebrate their love. As a theatre-loving couple, there was no place more fitting to host the sophisticated, yet fun celebration than the The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, in Las Vegas.
“The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, NV, is a premier performing arts center and a fantastic wedding venue with an elegant and unique atmosphere enhanced by stunning architecture with an Art Deco motif. Our ceremony was held in the outdoor courtyard, while Myron’s Jazz Club provided the perfect space for our reception” shares the couple. “Not only did we choose this venue for the aesthetic appeal, but we also gave considerable thought to knowing that any funds were benefiting the performing arts community.”
With nearly 150 guests in attendance, David and Brian made sure that everyone felt welcomed and appreciated coupled with a vibe that they wouldn’t forget.
All loved ones were greeted with boutonnieres upon entering the ceremony, signifying their importance and that all are honored and appreciated here.
“The ceremony was a beautiful, traditional ceremony from the Episcopal liturgy,” recalls David and Brian. “We added a few modern touches to reflect our commitment to each other and the world. We worked with our dear friend and pastor, Rev. Ann Bonner-Stewart, to craft a meaningful ceremony we will never forget.”
Since the pair met before marriage equality was the law of the land, this was an even more meaningful moment.
In addition to them dedicating a performance of The Rainbow Connection to the LGBTQIA+ community and their daughters along with their spouses standing by their side, David and Brian’s former pastor gave the homily stating their given right by the constitution.
“[Reverend] Bob greeted us warmly the Sunday following the 2015 Court decision and said, ‘I’m ready when you are.' Those words set in motion, a circle that could only be completely closed with his participation in our ceremony.”
They sealed their love with a much awaited kiss wearing midnight blue tuxedos. The dark tones played into the color palette of the elegant details throughout the celebration which consisted of icy blue and gray shades, too.
“As cliche as it sounds, our wedding theme of love, community, and inclusivity made a magical night. Outside of that, if we had to choose a specific theme for the event, it would be a black-tie affair with a hint of whimsy.”
They were so ecstatic with how every element turned out, David even shed a tear seeing the reception room transformation for the first time.
Brightly colored floral arrangements consisting of tulips, roses, and hydrangeas popped against the ink colored linens, china, and cut glass stemware. Each place setting was also complemented with a personalized menu consisting of a place card and description of evening meal all in one.
With two signature cocktails and a curated playlist of the tunes, the spirits of the evening were high! Guests crowded the dance floor after enjoying a multi-course meal that was kicked off with a wall of mini charcuterie boards and ended with decadent carrot cake.
“The wedding’s atmosphere was joyful, and every detail was perfectly executed to make it a day we and our guests would never forget. It was a beautiful moment that genuinely embodied what a wedding should be.”
