We recently had the chance to sneak a peak at Anne Barge’s new Curve Couture line, a beautiful collection of size-inclusive dresses that have details and silhouettes not normally seen in the offerings for extended sizes. More and more designers are jumping on board to combat size discrimination in the industry by providing extended sizes or specific plus-size designs in their collections. When sizes already err on the small side — the average sample size is just a 10, which in regular clothes is more like an 8 — brides who wear a size 16 or larger are met with styles that were designed to hide their curves instead of celebrate them.
In many plus-size collections, A-line ball gowns with heavy ruching and long sleeves are abundant, the only option being to cover up. We live in an increasingly body-positive era, and we’re so excited to see the plunging necklines, open backs, hugging mermaid silhouettes and beautiful beading that designers are adding to dresses in extended sizes that celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of the human body. So we’ve rounded up some of our favorite size-inclusive dresses from 2017 collections that are nothing short of showstoppers.
