The passion and practice of a minimalist lifestyle, led Christie and Maddie to keep things simple and elope. While the original plan was to elope in the mountains, the pandemic led them to take advantage of the beauty of their own city. They headed to the local courthouse in Norfolk, Virginia; Maddie wearing a long-sleeve lace secondhand dress and Christie wearing a checkered suit from H&M — their whole wedding costing under $200.
While their families weren’t present, the day didn’t go without the excitement of others. Strangers watched as the two exchanged their vows and applauded them as they popped champagne at sunset. “It was focused on us and what we have. We did not want to worry about guest lists, budgets, etc. We wanted to focus on the life that we were about to start together,” stated the happy couple who wrapped up the special day sharing some Benny’s pizza and brownies.
