Witness the unique blend of pandas and Legos at the Filipino wedding of Joel & Bono in Los Angeles. With a Mondrian color palette and Asian-fusion cuisine, their celebration captured by Todd Danforth Photography will leave you in awe.

Friends and family traveled from all over the world to witness the marriage of Filipino natives Joel and Bono at their wedding in Los Angeles held at Millwick by Marivon.

Opting to incorporate a mix of their interests and passions into the details, their design planned by Holly Gray of Anything But Gray Events was nothing short of unique. Their request to implement a look that included pandas and Legos was a challenge their vendors were excited to accept and one that was executed flawlessly.

“Bono is obsessed with pandas and Joel is a Lego champion. No joke! Finding a way to mix their two obsessions with design elements that felt modern, sleek, and still unique was no easy task, but I think, as a team, we pulled one heck of a wedding off,” recalls Holly.

A Mondrian color palette of primary colors mixed with black-and-white touches carried a lot of power in the overall Lego-meets-pandas look; starting with the attire.

Bono sported a bold red suit with Joel in a complementing vibrant blue hue. They both accented their looks with Lego-themed cufflinks. Their wedding party wore a mismatched blend of black and white.

“Sticking with the Mondrian theme, our flowers were mostly either red, blue or yellow. We also had bamboo as it matched up with the panda theme we had going on. In addition to that — and one of our favorite details — was the incorporation of Lego flowers with real flowers in some of the designs,” explains the couple.

Those specific arrangements along with stuffed panda bears could be first seen in the beautiful outdoor ceremony of the venue’s courtyard.

Bono and Joel dished on the ceremony which just so happened to be their favorite memory of the day. “The ceremony was divided into four distinct sections which started with the official recounting the story of how we met followed by an abridged reading of the Supreme Court decision on Obergefell v. Hodges. That was followed by some words and a poem written by our officiant and ended with our vows and exchange of rings which were instead of on a pillow or in a box, were put on the arms of a small stuffed panda which was actually one of the first pandas we got while together, so in a way, it’s been with us throughout our entire relationship.”

Bamboo plants, brightly colored table numbers and name cards, as well as minifig Legos were additional features that made the reception space pop.

Their Asian-fusion cuisine was complete with mango sticky rice for dessert; rounding out the details to the incredible celebration.

With a wedding this good, it only makes sense they chose the best of the best, Todd Danforth Photography, to capture the day in all its beauty. Go ahead and relish these stun-ning photos!
