They say home is where the heart is. For Nikko and Maddie that couldn’t be more true. After getting engaged in Maddie’s parent’s backyard, they vowed to forever just six months later – only this time in her parent’s front yard.
“I always knew I wanted to be married at home. Like in Father of the Bride! It’s so beautiful, we really didn’t need to have a ‘color scheme’ … just adding contrast with soft pink and white roses and vases. The style was like a modern forest,” says Maddie.
With intentional, yet personal touches all going into every element, they made the design as “extra” as possible – going full force with a grand design.
“No matter the party, I’m kinda known for being extra with the theme and decorations, so it was fun to make it the most beautiful and have that excuse to be extra!” laughs the bride. “Lots of flowers, fun lights, candles everywhere. It was like stepping into the most romantic forest world.”
Thanks to the labor of love from family and friends, and even the bride herself, custom curated decor made their design that much better. “My older sister did all [the flowers]! We all helped but she is so talented. She designed 12 different arrangements for the vases on the tables, nine bouquets and all the little things in between,” Maddie exclaims. “I built the bar. My friend made signs for the seating chart and photo backdrop during cocktail hour and I put all the names and lettering on them. I made the table numbers and had painted the big Til Death Do We Party sign! I designed the invites, programs, and menus. All the signage. There was a lot!”
While all incredibly eye-catching, it was Maddie walking down the aisle to the song Moon River in her show-stopping gown covered in pearls that caught Nikko’s heart.
“He cried immediately when I started walking. And seeing him cry with that song — a favorite — was wonderful. Then we just had a fun party! We all danced, we all laughed. It was perfect!
