The natural light, elegance, and striking beauty of Robby and Erik’s engagement session at Mint Room Studios in Toronto is the perfect blend of cultural and creative.
Their story began when Robby attended a number of Erik’s training events as he worked as a global educator for a large beauty brand. With a shared passion for the beauty industry and multiple events later, Erik asked Robby out.
“Through shared understanding for each other, appreciation and passion for artistry, love for travel, and dedication and loyalty for over five years across borders, we knew that our lives were destined to be together,” says the couple. Continuing, “After being separated for months due to border closures, we knew that we didn’t want to be separated for such an extended period ever again.”
In spontaneity, Erik popped the question to Robby in an intimate setting.
“Following the proposal with a placeholder ring, we chose to get customized rings created to match our personalities. Our rings have their similarities but also their differences that suit each of our aesthetics and tastes.”
While the proposal was casual, they opted to infuse culture and tradition into their engagement session with Courtney Marie Imaging.
“We chose to take our engagement photos in traditional Indian Groom Attire as a tribute to Robby’s upbringing,” says Erik. “Though we are not choosing to have a traditional cultural wedding, we are finding ways to immerse our families' heritages in all of our wedding moments. This is an ode to Robby’s Guyanese upbringing — we plan to get married in tuxedos for our beach front wedding next year.”
The garments, the poses, and dynamic portraits of this day are so good. Get ready, because the beauty of it all is about to capture your attention!
