Livie and Ashley's golden love was celebrated through pastel rainbows and Swiftie Easter eggs.
Before you read: As most Swifties know, Tay loves to plant Easter eggs, so we couldn't resist playing our own Love Inc.'s version. How many Taylor Swift song titles can you spot in this article?
Before their marriage era, Livie and Ashley's love story started on Tinder and budded over long-distance: late-night video calls, weekend visits and romantic getaways.
Their love deepened, leading Ashley to make the move to Boynton Beach, Florida, where Livie resided. There, they could start their live together, complete with a cozy apartment and their beloved golden retriever, Felix. Proposals shortly followed, and soon, they found themselves in their wedding planning era.
Inspired by Taylor Swift‘s Lover album, which help special meaning to their relationship's early days, the couple's wedding embraced soft pastels, whimsical elements, and heartfelt details that reflected their love story. “This song and album were released soon after we moved into our first apartment together, and days were spent unpacking and creating our new home to this soundtrack,” says Livie.
“To have a queer wedding inherently means to throw tradition to the wolves, which we fully embraced while keeping the wedding outline,” the brides explain. “Like filling the lines of a coloring book page with any every color that brings you joy, regardless of what the color should be.”
CEREMONY
As daylight rose on the wedding day, the brides stepped into their Kyha gowns, radiating with timeless style. “Our bridal party was composed of our close friends and family of all genders, including our very dapper bridesman/fashion captain Anderson who walked down the aisle with gorgeous flower petals sprinkled into his Afro.”
The floral bouquets ranged from pink to yellow to blue, perfectly embodying the day's pastel theme. “We wanted to showcase the brightness and color that we bring to each other's lives every day and share that with our loved ones.”
Guests received paper rings to wear during the ceremony, offering blessings to the couple, which was a fun and meaningful homage to Swift's track.
RECEPTION
After the ceremony, guests were escorted into an enchanted pastel rainbow wonderland. “I was absolutely floored on the day of our wedding when I could fully take in all of our decor, with surprises literally around every corner” says Ashley. Surprises included the escort cards displayed on floating clouds, a rainbow guest book (which is now proudly hung in their home), a star-themed seating chart (stars do you like dem — IYKYK), and tables named after Taylor Swift songs.
Twinkle lights and a floral lavender haze crescent moon hung above the sweetheart table. “Everything turned out os gorgeous and has so much sentimental value and meaning to us,” exclaimed the brides.
The couple also included a fun Taylor Swift puzzle game for guests, presented in wooden boxes at each table. “The clues were extremely creative, using elements like invisible ink, candles, and hidden supplies at the table. It was a fun activity to get guests excited adn talk to each other, and they all loved their prizes.”
For their first dance, the couple, of course, chose Lover by Taylor Swift. “The lyrics of this song in particular really resonated with us, the feelings we had of growing this connection and beginning to build a combined life were expressed so beautifully, we sort of always knew it would be our first dance,” says Livie. “We had a framed poster of the song's lyrics hung on our wall before anyone even proposed.”
As the night went on, the dance floor remained packed with guests singing along to a playlist featuring Taylor Swift hits like Shake It Off, Love Story, and Paper Rings.
A three-tiered spiced wedding cake was the piéce de résistance for the dessert table, which also served up eclairs and fruit tarts.
Basking in the afterglow of their wedding, the newlyweds reflected on the day: “We felt like our wedding truly told a story of us as a couple, and we loved sharing it with our friends and family. Our wedding design conveyed exactly what we were hoping for — fun, love, acceptance, celebration, warmth, pride, joy, and whimsy,” say the newlyweds. “Our guests were thrilled, and we received endless compliments on how gorgeous our wedding was. It really felt like we put on a party to be proud of.”
