When Sarah and Dalia were thinking of the perfect location to take engagement pictures, Miami Beach was an easy choice. “Miami is our city where we met and fell in love and lived for so long,” Sarah says. “Wynwood, Miami, is a place we go almost every other week, and South Beach is our neighborhood. It made sense to reflect us.” Against the colorful Wynwood Walls and along the beach, Yanique Bonelli Photography captured this glowing couple of eight years for their gorgeous engagement session. We love the way Sarah and Dalia look at each other, proving that even after eight years, the spark doesn't have to fade!
The Love Story
Sarah and Dalia first connected on Myspace in 2009 before Facebook completely took over. “I saw her profile picture and just had to send a friend request and comment on her wall,” Sarah says. “We started talking and then dating; it all fell into place really early for us.” Only three months later, it was clear to both of them that their connection was special. “I have so many moments of knowing Dalia was the one,” she says. “From three months into our dating when I realized I loved her and I told her and she told me back, to the way she’s lifted me up and been by my side through the most difficult times of my life.”
The Proposal
Sarah and Dalia had been together for seven years when Dalia surprised Sarah with a trip to New Orleans. “We’d been to New Orleans three to four times at this point,” Sarah says. “It’s our favorite city.” Sarah thought the trip to The Big Easy was the big surprise, but Dalia had more up her sleeve! One day while they were exploring their favorite city, Dalia led Sarah to a gorgeous sculpture garden where she planned to propose, but when they arrived the garden was closed. It was time for plan b. “She took me to the city park and found a secluded spot and surprised me on one knee on the lake,” Sarah says. “I was so surprised and happy!”
The Ring
“My ring is unique and exactly what I wanted,” Sarah says. “It’s a white gold band with ivy vines, dotted with small diamonds and a princess cut diamond in the center.”
Memorable Moment
Sarah says one of the most special aspects of the proposal was the fact that Dalia was able to completely surprise her. “I’m rarely ever surprised,” she says. “The impromptu vacation was a surprise in itself, and then she tried to take me to a sculpture garden which had just closed before we ended up at the lake and she surprised in City Park. I didn’t understand the big deal about the sculpture garden being closed until after she proposed.”
