It’s easy to understand why locals believe that fairies and giants still exist in their land — Iceland’s dramatic, nature-driven landscape is pure magic. It was in this otherworldly destination that Marc got down on one knee underneath the Northern Lights and proposed to Paul. A year later, the Scottish couple found themselves tying the knot in the snow-clad country, and celebrated with an engagement session (also referred to as an Iceland pre-wedding session) days before they exchanged vows. From flirty snowball fights, adorable pony-sized Icelandic horses and frozen waterfalls, Photos by Miss Ann captured the magic from both the dreamy location and Marc and Paul’s love.
The Love Story
On a rainy November night in 2011, the Scottish gents met during a night of drinking and dancing, later followed by a friend’s post-boogie chicken pakora supper. “We talked about zombies, VW camper vans and penguins of the Antartica,” notes the grooms. “By 7am we had determined we would have to get married.”
Of course, nothing in life is ever that simple, and the two lovebirds had to endure a 300-mile long-distance love, filled with stolen moments in train stations and tearful goodbyes every second Sunday. Eventually, Paul moved to Mancester, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
During a special holiday in the magical, frosty world that is Iceland, Marc got down on one knee in the middle of nowhere as the Northern Lights danced above them. “My response was ”%&@>! %&@ **…… *$^@%^£…… @&£%^%…. Yes'” laughs Paul.
While traveling in Mayanmar, Paul purchased Marc’s silver engagement/wedding ring and, afterward, Marc followed suit, buying a classic white gold band with a modern twist, thanks to the brushed finish and polished edges.
