A Nursery Tour with an Industrial Beach Vibe

With a moniker as unique as Ocean, Alexa and Carlos knew they had to make the nursery for their little guy special, but wanted to avoid overly theme-y. They worked with designer Vanessa Antonelli to create a sanctuary boasting both industrial and beach vibes, utilizing the beautiful bones of their home (tall walnut doors, gorgeous moldings) with elements such as driftwood and metal. Photographer Christine Farah Photography captured the laidback family of three in their serene space that certainly evokes a sense of calm, which we imagine comes in handy during 3 a.m. feedings!

“The industrial aspect of the room comes in with the black metal throughout the space. I think on its own it could feel cold, but with the fur rug, inviting drapery and driftwood wall it is warm and friendly,” says Vanessa. “The light-up marquee is so much fun, but let me tell you it weighs a lot. It took a team of people to hang it and reinforce it to the maximum. Then after it was up Carlos actually hung on it and did chin ups for a pretty long time to make sure that it was a permanent and safe part of the wall. I think it is one of the coolest pieces Iā€™ve ever put in a room. It was custom made for them by Metal & Lights and they can easily change the letters whenever they want to all different sayings.”
