For Nikki and Julie, the last few weeks leading up to Julie’s due date have been a mixture of excitement and eager anticipation. “Waiting to meet this little one has been so hard,” Nikki says. “When you start the journey, you’re just so excited to be pregnant, but near the end, you’re excited about not being pregnant anymore!” Already proud parents to a lovable 6-year-old Pug-Beagle mix named Elle, Nikki and Julie are waiting until they meet their little bundle of joy before they choose a name.
Julie was 32-weeks pregnant when Carletta G Photography captured this sweet expecting session to commemorate their journey through IUI. “Pregnancy is a miracle,” Julie says, “and the path to parenthood is not the same for everyone.” And just as everyone takes a different avenue to parenthood, Julie says the experience of being pregnant has been much different than she expected, too. “Working with midwives and having a great experience in pregnancy has been contrary to the dominant narrative that pregnancy is so unpleasant,” Julie says. “It doesn’t have to be that way for everyone.”
