As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex make the rounds on their Royal tour, Meghan Markle’s style has been the talk of the town! In Tonga, the Duchess stepped out in a stunning ivory gown designed by Theia, which creative director Don O’Neill says was an honor to create. “When her stylist reached out to inquire if I could make a dress for her Australian press tour, I stopped everything we were doing (my bridal show was just a week away!) and immediately went to work on Her Royal Highness’s gown,” he says. “We completed the gown in two days, shipped it out and received confirmation that the Duchess loved it!”
Meghan looked radiant in the custom ivory crepe gown, featuring flanged shoulders embroidered with appliques of crystals and micro glass beads, a jewel neck and a side slit, which she wore for a welcome reception and dinner in Tonga, hosted by King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u.
O’Neill was an apt choice to create such a dress, as Meghan, herself, served as the inspiration for one of Theia’s upcoming wedding dress collections. “The Duchess of Sussex has long been a source of inspiration,” O’Neill says. “Her classic, effortless and chic style coupled with all the excitement leading up to her wedding earlier this year inspired my Spring 2019 bridal collection, which I showed in April.”
Fans who follow Meghan’s style are already buzzing about the bridal vibes the dress gives off, and O’Neill couldn’t be happier with how the gown turned out. “I am humbled and so excited to dress The Duchess of Sussex,” O’Neill says. “It has been an exciting, whirlwind collaboration. Her Royal Highness is a truly beautiful, inspiring woman, a bright shining light in this world, and we at Theia are truly honored to be part of The Royal Tour of Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand.”
