It's Fashion Week here in New York and, for us here at Love Inc. HQ, that means lots of beauty inspiration that can transfer from the runway to the aisle. One of my favorite looks so far the sleek ponytail at Kate Spade. Polished and sophisticated, it's the perfect updo for a fashion-forward bride. We got the scoop from the celebrity stylist behind the look, Tommy Buckett, for tips on how to create this look.
Inspiration: The Kate Spade Fall/Winter '14 collection was inspired by the designer's recent trip to Shanghai so the designs featured bold colors and structured silhouettes. In order to keep the focus on the fashion, Buckett opted to give the models sleek, straight ponytails, a concept that works perfectly for the bride who really wants to show off her gown.
Step 1: Use hair oil on dry hair to smooth it out and create mirror-like shine. Buckett used Garnier Fructis Marvelous Oil 5-Action Hair Elixir.
Step 2: He then used a wax spray and combed through hair for added grip, then brushed into a chic ponytail. Tip: Lean your chin downward as you fasten the elastic to ensure that hair at the nape of the neck stays tight.
Step 3: Spot treat flyaways with hairspray to lock in sleek style.
