Two years after Divina and Zach met while chaperoning a kid’s church camp, Zach enlisted the help of his friend and photographer to set up a photo shoot that would end with a proposal. Knowing Divina’s love for nature, he chose a serene location in Boerne, Texas, near the river where trees towered overhead. Before Zach got down on one knee, however, Divina was wrestling with an uneasy feeling. “All day I had such a strange feeling in my heart, one I had never felt,” she says. “It was so new I sincerely felt like maybe I was going to hear bad news from family or something that day.”
But when Zach grabbed her hand and walked with her barefoot into the river, she suddenly realized she had been wrong about the feeling in her heart, and then Zach dropped down on bended knee and asked her to marry him. “Of course we’re both crying — I’m ugly crying” Divina says. “I hug him and kiss him, allowing the weight of this reality to overwhelm me, and I whisper yes over and over.” To celebrate their engagement, Divina and Zach connected with Donny Tidmore to take some engagement photos. They chose McKinney Falls State Park in Austin, and the light was perfect as they walked hand in hand through the park, sharing warm smiles and plenty of laughter along the way.
