Beachy and beautiful, Marissa and Rachel’s West Coast wedding is an instant dose of cheer!
With water always a part of the setting for the significant moments of their story, they chose to celebrate the next chapter at Scripps Seaside Forum, in La Jolla, California.
“We loved the thought of having both an indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception where we could hear the waves crash, while celebrating with our favorite people,” says the couple. “The feature of the glass doors at the venue that connect the indoor and outdoor was such a nice touch.”
Their ceremony took place alfresco style with their cousin officiating and their siblings and best friends standing beside them in a mixture of slacks, suspenders, bow ties, and wrap skirts. “We wanted to be sure everyone was comfortable in what they wore and we loved having everyone happy,” they said of their wedding party's attire. As big music fans they also made sure to incorporate lyrics into their personalized vows.
Lovely coral, navy, and gold hues made for colorful celebratory details, displayed through linens, signs, and the floral arrangements consisting of a flower that held a special meaning. “Rachel’s grandmother loved the birds of paradise flower and we wanted to be sure to incorporate it into our florals.”
The tropical vibes were as serene as the open air surrounding them, allowing guests to indulge in delicious food and dance the night away before leaving with gold pineapple bottle openers and gummy bear packs.
“The gorgeous sunset and perfect weather made our day everything we wanted and more. Nothing could have made our day more special.”
