When you get married in a paradise like Hawaii, you don’t need to do much in terms of decor. “We had a boho tropical vibe, and wanted to embrace the natural beauty of our surroundings and let the setting speak for itself,” says the brides, Mandy and Kaliko. Their venue, Sunset Ranch, was located on the north shore of O’ahu, boasting stunning views of both the mountains and the ocean. “Our ceremony spot, with its tall trees and lush greenery, really drew us in. We immediately knew that it was the perfect spot for us to get married.”
After exchanging emotional vows, their guests enjoyed cocktail hour with four-legged friends roaming. “One great moment was when the goat, who was more interested in our bouquets than anything else, jumped up on his hind legs to take a huge bite of Mandy’s bouquet,” laughs Kaliko. Luckily, Mandy handled the print on her Made With Love dress like a champ, and the newlyweds even took some great pictures with their photographer Jenna Lee Pictures of their wedding dresses dipped in dirt — a true sign of a good time!
For their reception, the brides used pictures of Australian animals as table numbers, as a nod to their upcoming Australian honeymoon. “Mandy loves animals and had an absolute blast picking out animals for each table.”
Their florist, Hawaiian Floral Designs, brought in the surroundings with a mix of tropicals and classic wedding blooms, and ferns hung from the reception tent ceiling in macrame planters. For dessert, they skipped the traditional wedding cake and instead chose favorite desserts from two local bakeries. “They weren’t your typical, fancy wedding desserts, but they tasted like home and our guests loved them.”
