Actor and comedian Joel Kim Booster, known for his work on Fire Island and Loot, recently announced his engagement to his partner, John-Michael Sudsina.

The couple got engaged during a romantic vacation on Jeju Island, South Korea, over Labor Day weekend 2024. Booster shared the joyful news on social media, posting a photo of the proposal with the playful caption, “Vacation boyfriend —-> Vacation husband. Try to be normal about this.”

In the photos, the couple is seen enjoying their time on a boat, where Booster got down on one knee to propose to Sudsina. Both were dressed casually in tank tops and shorts, radiating happiness as they celebrated this new chapter in their relationship. The engagement ring, a simple yet elegant gold band, was also showcased in a series of photos the actor shared on Instagram, further capturing the intimacy and love between the two.

Booster and Sudsina's relationship began when they met in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico—often called “gay Disneyland”—during a mutual friend's party. According to Booster, their first meeting ended with them watching the sunrise together on the beach, marking the start of their romance.

Booster's announcement was met with an outpouring of love and support from friends, fellow celebrities, and fans alike. Comedian Quinta Brunson and TV personality Amber Ruffin were among those who congratulated the couple in the comments. Booster’s fans also celebrated the news, with many excited about what their wedding might entail.

While this is a joyful moment for the couple, Booster has openly discussed the complexities surrounding family acceptance. He mentioned in an interview that his conservative mother, though supportive of his relationship, has been hesitant to fully embrace the idea of him getting married. Nevertheless, Booster has expressed that he doesn’t need her presence at the wedding to feel validated, emphasizing the joy and love he shares with Sudsina.

As Booster continues to thrive in his career, with upcoming projects including a comedy film focused on marriage, this personal milestone adds to the exciting developments in both his professional and personal life.
