Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas finally made it official in Jodhpur, India, and married over a weekend filled with festivities! At the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace Hotel, Chopra and Jonas were married first in a Christian ceremony led by Jonas’ dad on December 1, in which Chopra wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown, followed by a traditional Hindu ceremony the next day.
Following a rather quiet courtship, social media was abuzz when the actress and singer finally announced their engagement, which took place in Greece after Jonas rented out the entire Tiffany & Co. store in London to select the perfect ring. And although the two were hesitant to make their relationship known to the public when it was brand new, the newlyweds couldn’t wait to share snippets of their magical day just hours after they exchanged vows. Chopra and Jonas both took to Instagram to share photos from the joyful and colorful celebration, beginning with the Mehendi ceremony, a pre-wedding ritual in which traditional henna is applied to the bride’s hands and feet. For the Mehendi, the bride looked radiant in a traditional 48-multipanelled organdy sherwani that was embellished with beautiful silk detailing while the groom donned a pale pistachio colored Banarasi Bakhiya kurta; both outfits were designed by Khosla Jani.
The newlyweds gushed about the magic of the weekend and the unique opportunity to bring two families together to become one. “One of the most special things our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures,” Chopra and Jonas wrote on Instagram. “And so planning a wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing.”
Chopra and Jonas also shared pictures and videos from other pre-wedding festivities, including the Sangeet, a musical evening in which both of their families put on elaborate dances in a friendly competition that shared their own version of the story of how the two met. On Instagram, Chopra wrote that her and her new husband had been looking forward to the Sangeet to see just what each side of the family had prepared for the other. “And what a performance it was,” she wrote. “Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives.”
