If you're looking to elope and want to support a great cause by doing so, you're in luck. On April 30th, a team of New York City wedding pros are joining forces for an elopement pop-up in Central Park, benefitting Vow for Girls, a charitable organization and global movement dedicated to ending the international child marriage crisis.

“The idea for this event was created after noticing that wedding trends are leaning towards smaller micro-weddings and couples are seeking the non-traditional. Adding a philanthropic element to their union is a refreshing alternative to budgeting for an expensive wedding,” says officiant and host of the event, Liz Norment of Have Lover, Will Travel. “The event has become a tour de force of female entrepreneurs in the industry who also feel empowered to offer their talents toward ending child marriage through the support of this event.”

There is room for 29 couples, and you have your choice of two packages with 100 percent of proceeds going toward education, job training, and providing vital life skills to combat the horrifying statistic that every three seconds, a girl is forced into marriage against her will.

  • The “Union for Education” package for $362 will pay for two girls’ education for an entire year. This includes a ceremony, the signing and filing of the license, and 5 photographs of their elopement.
  • The “A Promise to Dream” package for $611 pays for small business start-up costs and vocational training for one girl. This includes a ceremony, the signing and filing of the license, and 5 photographs of their elopement.

Photographers Elvira Kelviste, Jose Melgarejo and Brittany Ting will be on hand to capture the day, and will donate five free photos to each couple, while offering a full gallery to be purchased with a 10% donation to VOW.  Floral designer Field Trip Flowers will be donating bouquets and Rosehip will also be donating arrangements.

Liz has also partnered with Justin Alexander Bridal for a contest to give away one free wedding dress to a lucky couple who signs up to elope April 30th! The contest is live now and anyone who signs up will be entered to win.

Afterwards, the newlyweds are invited to the “Rooted in Love Gala,” held at Brindamour Studios in Gowanus, Brooklyn, which will bring together the recently-eloped couples and wedding industry visionaries to share joy and give hope. At the Gala, Guest of Honor will be Sasha Taylor, a child marriage survivor and amazing advocate for the cause will be sharing her story and also helping guests understand the momentum behind Vow's work and how their support will make a difference. For reference, child marriage is still legal in 43 states in the U.S., and 20 of those states do not require any minimum age for marriage. This issue is prevalent and support for the cause is urgent.

Reserve your elopement spot here.

Not eloping? Please still consider donating to this amazing cause.
