Batey Tambó is a women-of-color-led Afro–Puerto Rican bomba collective dedicated to preserving, performing, and sharing one of Puerto Rico’s oldest musical and dance traditions. Rooted in the centuries-old practice of bomba, the ensemble blends live drumming, call-and-response singing, and improvisational dance into powerful performances centered on culture, resistance, community, and celebration. Led by founder Denise Solís — one of the first women to play the subidor, or lead bomba drum, in the tradition — Batey Tambó creates immersive experiences that honor ancestral knowledge while bringing contemporary audiences into the rhythm and spirit of bomba.

Known for their vibrant live performances and educational community gatherings known as “bombazos,” Batey Tambó transforms weddings, cultural events, festivals, and private celebrations into deeply interactive experiences filled with movement, music, and connection. Their performances invite guests into the sacred dialogue between dancer and drummer that defines bomba, creating joyful, high-energy moments rooted in Afro-Caribbean storytelling and tradition. Whether performing during a wedding reception, cocktail hour, or cultural celebration, the ensemble brings authenticity, artistry, and unforgettable energy to every event.

Beyond performance, Batey Tambó is committed to cultural preservation, education, and healing through music and dance. Through workshops, performances, and community-centered spaces, the group uplifts Afro–Puerto Rican history and creates opportunities for collective expression, liberation, and celebration across the diaspora. Their unique blend of live percussion, dance, and cultural storytelling makes them a meaningful choice for couples and hosts seeking dynamic, culturally rooted wedding entertainment in California and beyond.
