Dancing With the Stars pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd welcomed their first child, Shai Aleksander, into the world earlier this month. And, we gotta say, we're a little jealous of Shai's setup, designed by celebrity interior designer Vanessa Antonelli.
“Peta and Maks knew they wanted a neutral, soothing and beautiful space with creams and golds. I wanted to make sure it was something special that stood out among the sea of neutral nurseries and of course, a place that felt magical to their little family,” Vanessa tells us. “In order to do that we found a subtle theme of elephants to base the room around. Maks has been a longtime collector of elephants so it was very personal and special to them to incorporate this into the nursery. I then filled the room with different textures like the embossed wallpaper, woven drapery, fur and hide area rugs.”
The tufted Romina crib was made more masculine by customizing it with a flat panel and adding gold gilding into the wood, and you can see that gorgeous gold flicker in details throughout the entire space. The room initially did not have any storage space, so Vanessa commissioned California Closets to turn a nook into a closet — you'd never know the difference! A gorgeous open bookcase by Stem Goods adds even more space to store baby's necessities. “I love the way this room came together. There are so many beautiful pieces that shine individually, but look even more exquisite when complemented by the other pieces,” she says.
